My girlfriend.....

dvr'd this recently and we watched it last night. When it first started, I said "Thats our bridge!" The big bridge in one of the first shots is the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge. I didnt know it was filmed in Wilmington, NC. My hometown. The neighborhood where the house is was easy to recognize since I work only half a mile from there. I rode by the house they used for the film today. Didnt see a ferris wheel in the backyard! Lol! Was kinda cool to see my hometown unexpectantly on tv.

Most of the movie was filmed in Wilmington but the ferris wheel was shipped in from Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The closing scenes where Duncan and Suzy ride the ferris wheel in their yard were shot first. They then dismantled the ferris wheel slowly to shoot the scenes of the wheel being erected. Once the backyard scenes were completed they moved the ferris wheel to the site of the old abandoned amusement park to shoot the scenes where Duncan first acquires the ferris wheel. In other words, all the ferris wheel scenes were shot in reverse order. My assumption would be that the ferris wheel eventually found its way back to Iowa. I believe the scenes of the big amusement park (with the coaster) were exactly what they claim it to be, Family Kingdom in Myrtle Beach.
