not much resolution

The movie ended kind of quick, didn't it? All of a sudden, the farris wheel was complete and the two main characters are on it and smiling. Credits.

I didn't care for the movie Family Stone, but it dealt with the same issue: coming to terms with losing a terminally-ill family member during the holiday season. The Family Stone film flash-forwarded to one year in future to glimpse that the family has found a way to celebrate their deceased loved one and can be happy again.

It would have been nice if this film had the same kind of resolution. We could see that Duncan was able to keep the friendships he made while making the ferris wheel. Maybe the nurse and Tommy visit him.

I just didn't like the cut to credits. It left me hanging.

Glad I'm not the only one that felt this way. A little more would have been great.

It was a touching movie though.

I did love the nurse and Tommy a lot - in my own vision - they do visit Mayor because of the close friendship they began. just use your imagination I guess to fill in the blanks - but I can't see Natalie/Tommy NOT keeping in touch w/Mayor. I love Andy Garcia so much and Mary-Louise Parker is such a gem, they really had such great chemistry in the movie. Another tear jerker. I was happy to see Andy Garcia on my screen again, I watched his Independent film "City Island" - it was FANTASTIC, his real daughter was in it as well, she did a great job. I think Garcia should be getting more bigger roles, he's one of the best - but I will take him anyway I can. Mandy Moore was wonderful as well.

While in a way I agree, at the same time I disagree. Of course more would be nice, in most cases of movies. But at the same time it pretty much has a resolution. Duncan's Ferris Wheel is complete and functional, Suzy gets her gift and a ride with her husband and even the annoying Gayle gets a heart at the end. It's a sweet ending. I mean if they continued chances are Suzy would die at the end turning it from a sweet, romantic Christmas movie to a depressing, tragic Christmas movie.

I don't think that I would have liked to see a dying woman suffer any more. Good ending.
