it's a form of south carolinian dialect native to parts of the area where the movie is set. it's of new orleans derivation

It sounded like a boston accent to me.

He's got the accent down pretty good for the area. I lived round there for a year and a half.

South Carolina and Georgia are neighbors so dialect overflow would make sense.
