If you "liked" this...

I say "liked" as The Phone Call is on a somewhat depressing topic, but if the way this was handled impressed you, do try and find the 1965 feature length film, The Slender Thread, starring Sidney Poitier and Anne Bancroft (Sidney Pollack's directorial debut, I believe). It is the exact same theme, but drawn out, so one sees the caller, Bancroft, and why she was motivated to take certain actions. Poitier is the crisis hotline grad student desperately trying to keep Bancroft talking. Its a pretty terrific, rarely seen little film with impressive acting by the leads. Turner Classics shows it once and again, so look out for it.

Thanks. I'll look out for it on TCM.
