I'm confused about the scene when Shrek and Fiona are eating the S'nothers and Donkey pops up wearing the sunglasses. Can someone please tell me what this is referencing?

I think it's just a riff on 70's Soul music such as Barry White where the singer would break in the middle of a song and talk in a deep sexy voice like "Baby, you know how special you are to me..." etc and then jump back into the song.

Thanks, jvideo. I wasn't sure if it was referencing a specific artist or just a generalization.
