Wonderful Movie! Kudos Kirk!!!

My favorite part was when Kirk was offering up a movie to Hollywood people about Noah's Ark, playing in character, that the Hollywood people he dealt with had never heard of the story of Noah's Ark. Kirk said that it had to go exactly the way he told it, with only Noah and his family, and all the animals in the world in the ark, but everyone else on Earth dies in a flood. Hollywood wouldn't go for it.. except if, maybe it was a cruise ship!! Or it sounds more like a cartoon!! But wait, no one likes a movie where the hero, God, kills most of the people! That doesn't make sense! Kirk tries to explain that they were all evil, except for Noah and his family. The still don't catch on. Showing the typical Hollywood! Loved it!

Anyone who is even barely culturally literate will know the story of Noah. Those "executives" would have to be pretty ignorant not to know it. I think he stretched the truth a little far.

Most of my problems were with the Genesis stories. For instance, Kirk says that God clothed Adam and Eve with the skin of the beast, to show their similarities. But I say, clothing is a symbol of redemption, and a metaphor for the covering of sin. "There is no forgiveness of sin without the shedding of blood" and "we are clothed in the righteousness of Jesus".

Kirk made this part of the movie to be thought of as if the Hollywood producers had never heard the story of Noah's Ark. The idea is to just imagine the scenario that they do not know about it.

Then it is just to show what would happen in real life if someone were to come to Hollywood with such a story that no one has ever heard about, and pitch it as a movie, with no changes to the story.. God tells Noah to build a boat and obtain every animal from the earth, male and female, and take him, his wife, his three sons and their wives, but that is it, onto the boat, and the remainder of the people on earth will be wiped out by a flood, and all die.

The moral is that no one in Hollywood would ever go for this because that is not what people want to see.. they do not want to see the Hero (God) in a movie kill everyone on the earth, and save only a few. So these producers try to change the story in different ways, to make it better, but Kirk says that it has to be the way that it was written, but they still don't get it.

In reality, it is a true story out of the Bible, and it is a fantastic story! God sees that the people on earth have become terribly evil, except for Noah and his family, so he wipes them all out except for Noah, because he is good, and they alone can start a new, good world.

"The moral is that no one in Hollywood would ever go for this because that is not what people want to see"

The reason that no-one would ever go for it because even as a fictional film it would stretch credibility beyond breaking point. The idea of fitting two of every species on a craft of those dimensions - plus all the food they would need for forty days - is laughable, as is the idea of predator and prey being cooped up in a giant floating zoo with only 8 zookeepers who had never sailed on water before, let alone experienced a flood, and somehow every animal surviving.

Ironically, if it hadn't been written into the bible, you would laugh at people for believing something so ridiculous, just as most Christians think other culture's myths are ridiculous - unless they agree with ideas in their own myths of course!

Yo velvet, you're reading too deep man. Just take it literal. I'm not a Christian, but I mean, to me it just sounds like your makin something outta nothing to make a point.

I'd never heard about this Noah guy, pretty cool story. I liked the movie.

Dude, you're supposed to take this seriously. I was raised Catholic, and then was a reformed Baptist. OMG, it's funny you would say that, I'd be considered a heretic because of my "less formal" view. LOL!

jongibsfb, I am so happy to hear that you enjoyed the movie, or at least that story! Just the fact that you went to this movie is wonderful! If you want to hear other unbelievable, but true stories from the Bible, I would recommend watching "The Bible" Miniseries that came out on the History Channel in March, 2013. It was very highly rated, a 7.0/10 here on imdb, and it goes through many of the major stories in the Bible! I just finished watching it and it is absolutely amazing! I'm sure you can rent it at the library, or rent it on Amazon Instant Video. If you're not a Christian, but are interested in learning more Bible stories, even if you do not wish to become a Christian, like many people do, this is a great way to do it! Let me know what you think! :)

Wait a minute - If Hollywood types had never heard the story about Noah's Ark, then why did they greenlight and put all those bucks into "Evan Almighty", a modern day Steve Carrell comedy based on the story of Noah (the sequel to "Bruce Almighty")???????????????????????????

reply

Of course they had heard the story of Noah's Ark! Most people have. Kirk Cameron did this in the movie just to make us "imagine" that these executives did not ever hear of it, and it was a brand new story for them.

reply

I know that they have actually heard the story. But it's so obvious why would this premise ever be considered to be put on celluloid!! Oh,I get it! The religious guys who made this movie actually think Hollywood doesn't know enough about the Bible and that's why they're such heathens. Crazy!!!

reply

No one with a speck of intelligence actually believes the fairy story of Noah, surely?

reply

Oh, of course! And the Rapture is a fairy tail of the future, right? Just wait, if you continue to not believe in God and not give yourself to Jesus and ask for forgiveness for your sins, you'll see it with your own eyes.. more than likely within your lifetime. The Rapture will come, all the Christians will disappear from in front of your face, and you will have to face the Tribulation and the Antichrist. Just watch, it will happen. MAYBE not in your lifetime, but more than likely very soon. :)

And, Ms. DJK, Buddha and Krishna are coming to get you if you're wrong. What does that have to do with movies?

reply

Why do so many people interpret the Bible literally? It's a series of stories about spirituality and loving each other. Does anyone actually believe there was a real Noah's Ark in the past and everyone except Noah and two of every animal in the world died? It's preposterous. And Ms. DJK, the Rapture is literally going to happen with trumpets and the whole bit? Come on... the Bible has some beautiful stories but I think when people can only see them literally it's embarrassing and it defeats the purpose of the Bible being written in the first place..

reply

You are either a very good troll, or one of the most hilarious human beings I have seen in a long time.

Yes, the Rapture is a fairy tale. All of the Bible is a fairy tale. It doesn't take a lot of critical thinking to discern this.

reply

I really hope you're just kidding. Don't you see how idiotic this sounds? When we die we die. We feel nothing, because the soul is our body. Do you remember what happenend before you were born?

reply

No more Christians like you and Kirk Cameron in the world?!?! Woohoo! Can't wait. Come on rapture!!!

My biggest question about Noah's ark is where did Noah put all the sea creatures?

reply

That's the wrong question. If you want to sharp-shoot the story of Noah's Ark, a better question would be: where did Noah put all the fresh-water creatures (assuming, in this story, that there was a distinction between the organisms that lived in fresh-water rivers and lakes, and those that lived in salt-water seas and oceans)?

reply

Well, I did mean all water-based creatures, I should have clarified... Because adding too much fresh water to the salt water would surely dilute it to a point that would be deadly to salt-water creatures and make the environment too salty for fresh-water creatures...

reply

If you loved this movie there is something seriously wrong with you. This man made god is a freaking mass murderer.

reply

Noah is not a true story. It never happened.

reply

I know, right? All those evil babies and fetuses in the world! Scorge of the Earth! They had to die!!!

And people say Biblegod is against abortion. It aborted millions of babies worldwide in one single day.

Biblegod rules!
