John says, "hey, you're still racing" but in reality, this was just a none elimination leg with a moving pit stop. Immediately following the mat, if I heard correctly, teams had three consecutive voyages of 9 hours each (bus, boat, shuttle) meaning there was a 27-hour period of sleep, rest, and eating before the contest could continue. Not a lot of difference between that and a pit stop, other than not handing out a prize and not sleeping in a hotel room.

In the American version, when this twist has been thrown into a leg, the race has continued immediately, not 27 hours later. IMO, this was just a third NEL.
