From what I remember, it was Dujean who wanted to take the penalty because Leilani was so spent and couldn't do the monkey bars; Leilani resisted at first, but gave in because she had had enough of Dujean's unsupportiveness. At that point she was probably hoping to be eliminated, anyway. Had he not been such an *beep* to her, she might have continued trying.
I really did feel for her. Dujean spent most of the leg sitting in a boat, balking at the Roadblock because he couldn't swim. Then he does nothing but bring her down after the fact, despite the injuries and fatigue she suffered doing the challenge. Poor Leilani was trying her hardest all day and got nothing but the cold shoulder for it. Pathetic weakness? Hardly. Anyone in that position would crumble. And the thought of being the recipient of a Double U-Turn was the icing on the cake.
Gino and Jesse have run a fair game. I wouldn't mind them winning, even though they've sacrificed personality for competitiveness. Good-looking guys to be sure, but unlike, say, Mickey and Pete from last year, you wouldn't remember them after the season is over. Their continual focus on securing first place has given them an air of blandness, and sometimes I wonder if they're even enjoying what they're doing.
My personal favourites are Brent and Sean. Sure, they've kind of bumbled through this season and have been graced with some good luck over the weeks, but you can tell that they're genuinely enjoying themselves. They've pushed themselves by taking on tasks that other teams turned down (like the yoga one) and have a wonderful sense of humour and goodwill to carry them. They probably won't win, but I'd like to see them in the final three.
I quite like Nick and Matt, too. They have the same competitive spirit as Gino and Jesse, but unlike the brothers, they take it all with a twinkle in their eye. They can joke and have fun while still playing the game. I think they deserve to win as much as Gino and Jesse do, really. They've never tripped themselves up in any major way, and they're fun to watch.
Simi and Ope... well, I'm surprised they've made it this far. They've been underdogs from the start, so it's nice to see them doing so well. I'm neither hot nor cold about them, but I respect their tenacity and integrity and enjoy seeing how warm and supportive they are of each other.
