Ken's casting still seemed to be out of ignorance to his canonical race as well as playing to the general perception of Ken as a full Caucasian due to the blond hair and blue eyes(despite Ken being implied to be a natural brunette/have Raven hair judging from his black eyebrows)
Ken's eyes are not blue. They're brown. His eyebrows also don't match his hair color and that's on purpose to make it clear that Ken dyes his hair. And his hair color has changed from red to blonde which also makes it obvious Ken dyes his hair.
Howard doesn't look the part because he isn't Asian. Only those that think Ken is white would think Howard looks like Ken.
It's a real shame because I was honestly looking more forward to this than Mortal Kombat Legacy. Ansah's comments about how he really wanted to bring those fantastical elements from Street Fighter and do them with respect and credibility is the opposite of Tancharoen's desire to "Nolanize" Mortal Kombat. He made me excited because it could potentially prove to those post-Nolan that removing fantasy out of a fantasy story just cause it's live action isn't the way to go. However, Ansah's continuing the error that Ken is white while Tanchareon is correcting errors in casting such as hiring Asians to play Scorpion and Sub-Zero and in the second season of Mortal Kombat Legacy by getting an Asian to play Raiden.
