...the man she herself admitted knowing approached her? What did he say that was so wrong for her to say "Be gone, or I shall have you whipped!"?

Not offended, just annoyed and avoiding exposure.
Thought it was a short but hilarious scene that was an evidence of her supposed reputation among society.
