Agent Carter TV Series

I'm so excited there may be an Agent Carter TV series and I'm really surprised that there's no mention of it on this page. The one shot was a great launching point for a series and ABC and Marvel are said to be working on it.

There's also a fan site ready and waiting at http://agentcarter.net

I'm really excited about this too. It's already got a well-rounded, interesting main character and a terrific lead actress in Hayley Atwell. I hope it gets picked up and ABC does it justice.

I have no doubt it'll get picked up, I think the show is a great fit for ABC in particular, will pair nicely with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and now that Marvel are working on the Netflix shows for the "superfans" I think it has the potential to round out their TV plans nicely.

Latest rumor is it'll film in Vancouver http://agentcarter.net/agent-carter-to-film-in-vancouver/

I don't see the point in an Agent Carter TV show, which would be just a '40s spy show. She never was an important or even interesting character in the comic books in the first place (just Captain America's mandatory love interest), and i don't think a normal woman who beats up men would really add anything to the cinematic Marvel Universe inhabited by powerful characters such as Spider-Man, the Avengers and the X-Men, because... well, she's just a normal woman. You might as well give May Parker her own TV show to see her bake cookies for Peter.

We already have Black Widow, Hawkeye and a Marvel spy show with a cast consisting of normal people, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

I'm glad the writers of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. finally got their act together, after starting off as a Marvel version of The X-Files for the first half of the season. Finally we get to see Deathlok, altough nothing has been done with the Graviton orgin yet. I'm not saying it is a bad show, but it is too slow and doesn't do anything with the fact that it is situated in the Marvel Universe, which is such a waste of potential.

Have you seen the Agent Carter one shot?

reply

Yes.

And i honestly didn't get what was so special about it.
A secretary beating up some henchmen of a villain we never even got to see.

All Hail the King, now that was a one-shot that was actually going somewhere.

reply

I guess it's just not for you. It seems to appeal to a lot of other people though.

I like Agent Carter, Hayley Atwell and the one-shot. But if this goes to series, I think it will flop as hard as Pan Am.

The subject matter doesn't have enough mass appeal and as a period show, it won't be cheap. There's just not enough here to support a network show. It would likely end up being Marvel's first misstep. It is probably better suited as a netflix 13 episode series.

I think you may be underestimating ABC's predominantly female viewership.
