Why would the demon tell Janet that she needed to get Ed and Lorraine out of the house if it's main goal was to kill Ed? And if it was Bill's ghost that told Janet to get the Warrens out of the house in order to save Ed, shouldn't he have not been able to do that, since the demon was controlling everything he said?

It did not control everything Bill said, hence his riddles giving warning and instructions to the Warrens.

still his most valid question remains masterkey...but I guess it is a big plot hole in this simple lame follow up...

His main goal was not to kill ed, even if so, he would know the Warrens would be back, not the others.
