The bloated corpse of Rik Mayall

anybody see the episode of nevermind the buzzcocks/ask rhod gilbert (i forget which it was) about 2 or 3 years ago where rhod gilbert called greg davies 'the bloated corpse of rik mayall'?
i creased for days at that, then whenever i saw either of them i creased again, then when i found out rik was playing his dad in this, it was perfect casting, totally mint.

You're tearing me apart Lisa!!!!!

He's taken stick for YEARS about being called a "fat Rik Mayall"

When Inbetweeners first shown the pilot episode and i saw Greg Davies as the headmaster for the first time on screen,i mistaked him as Rick Mayall. Thats how close they both look alike. Lol

I would imagine that, as a result of recent untimely events, that particular comment is unlikely to be made again for at least a little while.

I was hoping for another series of the "Man Down" show which I have found hugely amusing.

I really do hope that they'll find a way to carry on in the late Mr Mayall's absence.

It'll certainly be a test of the writers' imagination and sensitivity.

Wouldn't it be grate if they had access to convincingly lifelike CGI?

They could tweak it by having series 1 Rik simply being the persistent haunting (and taunting) presence for Dan. Series 2 could see him as a semi opaque ghostly presence until, depending on budgetary constraints, Dan could have him properly exorcised!

Certainly a challenging route to take, especially the voice work. The technology is there, so it could work.

Not really.

And so, God came forth and proclaimed widescreen is the best.

what is being 'creased'? i thought it was a mistake but you did it twice.

Hi Matthyew, it's as in "creased up in laughter", where creased would be as if you bent cardboard. I presume it comes from "bent double" which Ive often heard used to describe laughing hilariously.

I hope the production team can find a way to continue with Man Down after the very sad demise of Rik Mayall, as the relationship between Greg and the children is awesome. And although Rik's part was extremely clever and funny casting I didn't love the absurd slapstick as much even though I know absurd slapstick is a cornerstone of Greg's comedy career.
