Highly Disappointed in Disney Jr for Airing This

I like many of the shows on Disney Jr. My Daughter is almost two and I let her watch an episode or two in the mornings as I shower. She enjoys Doc McStuffins, Sophia the First and she absolutely adores Mickey Mouse Clubhouse (as my son did when he was younger). I don't mind her watching these shows as each show teaches, either life lessons, counting, letters, health, etc. However, I have now watched a couple episodes of Kate and Mim Mim with her and I am highly disappointed in Disney for choosing to air this show.

The idea of a fantasy world is ok if done in the right way; however, when Kate "returns" to real life she tells her parents all about this magical world and they look at her like everything is normal. Most people would actually be a bit concerned if their child acted in such a manor.

Aside from that, I am highly upset with the language in this show. Meaning, many of the characters use a form of "baby talk" or slurred speech. It was already determined years ago that allowing children to listen to slurred speech or "baby talk" is a leading cause in many non-medical speech impediments.

Why would Disney Jr have a wonderful line-up of educational shows that allow children to thrive and then throw this show in the mix which uses improper speech, and teaches very little if anything.

Unfortunately, Disney has chosen to air this show when I shower, so I guess I will be putting in a DVD or changing the channel.

I think you're overreacting. It encourages imaginative and creative play as well as problem solving. Such a strong imagination in a child is beautiful.

I don't think anything in this show is detrimental to a child's health. Kate has a healthy imagination that she uses to solve problems in her life. If her parents had a negative reaction to her stories not only would it squelch her imagination and creativity but it would teach her such things are wrong and that message would be passed on to our children. I don't know about you, but I want my kids to be creative problem sovlers. I want them to think outside the box. Most of all I want them to think for themselves.

As for the baby talk....yes it can be detrimental. But I sincerely do not believe that the five minutes of dialogue that the two characters who speak this was have in each episode is going to cause speech impediments.

Really? You've got to be kidding me! You chastize Kate for imagination, because it's "unrealistic", but somehow you're totally fine with Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and it's constant throwing all rational thought to the wind? "Oh how are we going to get this hot-air balloon down? I know! Let's use a baby elephant!" I mean, really? Mickey Mouse Clubhouse is okay, but Kate and Mim-Mim is just crossing the line!? Lady, or dude, learn how to pick your battles! And maybe step up as a parent and don't rely on a TV show to teach your child speech and motor skills!

Because Doc bringing her stuffed animals to
life is realistic? Come on, they are cartoons! My daughter loves all the shows you mentioned along with Kate and MimMim. You need serious help if you think this cartoon is unhealthy or detrimental to your child
In any way. Have fun with your participation award lifestyle! Your the problem with this country!
