Interesting yet disturbing trailer

Now I've seen the last horror flick about feral people which was "The Woman" and now with the upcoming "Cub" I think this may be the most chilling yet!

Fortunately this looks a lot better than The Woman...

Of course and more painful to see that more underage children will be shown dying gory deaths!

A horror-film in a scoutscamp? Why aren't there TONS of movies about this already? Sounds like the perfect combo of people/setting (children in isolated woods)! Hehe can't wait!

Hopefully we will get a leak since im sure this wont be hitting the rest of the world for awhile. :/

:-) You sure about that? Look what I stumbled upon today:

Screening at TIFF before opening in Belgium.

Nice. Well hopefully the rest of the world will be getting it soon to.

Saw it at TIFF tonight. Pretty twisted, but the on-screen deaths are kept among the adults.

HOWEVER, this doesn't mean the kiddies don't die. ;)

Lots to like about this one. There's actually more than one killer in the forest, and their clockwork-like traps are a lot of fun to see sprung into action. Characters telegraphed early on to survive the carnage actually don't, which is a major plus. The tree-bark mask for "Kai" is effectively designed and utilized in the film.

The kills are satisfyingly gruesome (gougings, impalings, etc.) and convincingly designed. There is some (faked) animal cruelty, for those who care to avoid such things.

They did leave some questions unanswered. In the Q&A, the director claimed the old "leave a bit of mystery" defense, but he probably could've explained the background of his antagonists a little more. As they stand, a viewer CAN come up with at least a couple of valid backstories for them based on the clues dropped in the early running.

CUB is definitely an interesting new addition to the horror arena, and worth seeing. I'm guessing it will go to DVD and digital in North America, with perhaps limited play in the big cities (which is par for the course with most TIFF Midnight Madness films).

I saw it at Fantastic Fest. Brutal movie!

Hey now, I liked The Woman. Lucky McKee is an original voice in horror.
