Agreed on "Goldfish Follies" as well. I almost included it in my initial comment. When I watched "Straight Illin"..it was definitely over the top gross with all the puking and "disease". Clarence just looked flat out disgusting.
So it may have been the shock factor.
"Balance" featured a creepy carny type that seemed to prey on little kids. Especially when he turned out be an adult disguised as a child. His threatening of the kids may be seen as too out of bounds.
And "Goldfish Follies" is just an oddity in it's imitation of old style animation. Nothing is particularly disturbing other than Clarence maybe walking around with the goldfish in his mouth.
Oddly..the creepiest of all may be "Lil Buddy" which still gets airplay. Clarence becoming all goth/anti establishment and physically attacking his classmates(way out of character)and then re-emerging reincarnated as lil buddy himself.
I have obviously seen way too many Clarences, and still try to have it on when it airs on CN.
