Buddy's Book (Discussion)

The episode leaks striketh further.

Steven's reaction to libraries is the same as mine at whichever branch I go to, even if it's out of province and I'm legally unable to obtain a card there.

I can sense a a mixed reaction to come from fans, but I rather liked this one, even if Buttwick came off as a tad whiney. Another return to light-hearted goofiness, but not full-filler either like 'Kindergarten Kid' (which I still enjoyed). Plus, Rose being helpful is a welcome sight, after all these dark secrets we've been learning about her lately.

I'm honestly more curious as to why she was in the desert without her comrades, rather than the mystery of the pack of (non-magical) lions who took a shine to her. Plus, I'm thinking the Palanquin was where Pink Diamond's shattering took place.

Those little hints of lore with the desert, the callback to Desert Glass, Rose's lion pack and the palanquin were very intriguing.

A lot of people were quick to link the palanquin to Blue Diamond, but I also think it's Pink Diamond's.

I loved the use of Jaime to tell the story of Buddy through. That's such an adorably Steven thing to do to imagine Buddy as Jaime and Jaime's VA is such a treat whenever he goes full drama zone.

It was an okay episode. Using Jamie without using Jamie.

Kinda odd that Steven happened to find that book, which it seems was hand written and just lying under a shelf. Librarian needs to spend less timing shushing and more time librarianing.

Amethyst's hair was wrong, but this is Steven's imagination. Interesting he pictured them, except Rose, in male-attire. Of had he seen a picture of them before of them from that time?

The battlefield is in Scandinavia.

The sand castle in North Africa.

Wow. Never thought I'd see Big Mama Rose in a (semi-) filler. 

Still, it's nice seeing her interact with someone besides the CGs and Greg. Plus, this adds to what's up with her and Lion. Interesting to see Gem lore through the perspective of an average guy, as well callbacks to pervious settings (including some we'll never see again). Plus, this helps add to Lion's connection to Rose. And I can't shake the feeling we haven't seen the last of that Palanquin (we all know how the Crewniverse likes them some foreshadowing )

Could that battle have inspired the myth of Ragnorok?! 

I imagine he pictured Rose the same because of Buddy's description of seeing a giant woman, whereas if Rose were wearing the outfit from the shark painting, she wouldn't of cast such a feminine silhouette.
