I used to like this show now it's just yuck...

it's become touchy feely over the top emotional pablum. The stories used to have depth and now they are just poking you in the feels.

Who took my toast?

I liked the series more before they went so LGBT heavy, just for the sole reason of how toxic the fan base has become. It's as bad, if not worse than the Avatar fan base!

There are still plenty of good episodes post season 1 finale, but the tumblrtards and social justice warriors have hijacked the show as their own and take turns blowing each other over each new episode. Then there are the shippers (shudder!)

Nowadays, I rarely comment on the show, but going back and watching the first 15 or so episodes, it definitely feels like a different entity. It started out somewhat odd ball and with quirky humor now it has gotten very serious and has been tackling a lot of modern day issues which is interesting. I suspect Rebeca Sugar and Co. were playing it conservatively, testing the water to see how far they could go without getting ****canned out of the gate before starting in with the noticeably liberal minded episodes. The bad thing is that the internet community takes to this kind of writing like cancer to a prostate!

I'm betting most of these idiots didn't even care about the show until Rose's Scabbard or Jail Break started making the rounds on the message boards!!!

I still love this show and am enjoying the newer episodes but the fan base has become ridiculously toxic and they are going the extra mile to make sure the show goes into a direction they want even if it means harassing other fans who create their own fanfiction, fan art, and other content based on the series and even the actual people involved with the series( The Laruen Zuke situation that went down on Twitter). It's really pathetic - it's FICTION, why not invest all this time and energy into something more important like school or your job or your family.

That's another problem with this toxic fan base. Their obsessiveness over the relationships and demanding who should end up with who. Personally, I like Peridot and Lapis as roommates/friends just fine. Putting them together for the sake of the shippers and tumblrtards is just bad writing! I don't see a reason why every character needs a mandatory relationship!

Exactly, its ridiculous and silly. It boggles my mind there are even a sub group of fans of the show dedicated to the proposed pairing of Pearl and The Mayor of Beach City. It seems now that EVERY character must be paired with SOMEBODY, no matter HOW stupid it would come off. If these rabid fans win the show will eventually become an animated CW show.

Too be honest, who the freak cares about the "toxic fan base"? It shouldn't matter when it comes to just whether or not the show is enjoyable anymore. I for one do still love the show, and wish that those fans would not get too serious, and take it out against the crewniverse and other fans about whatever. So you shouldn't take your anger about them out on the show. If you still like the show, don't let them ruin it! If you don't like the show, don't let them be the excuse.

Now as far as the show goes, I figured it would eventually get more serious as Steven learns more about his gem and as more Homeworld gems come into the picture, a lot of cartoons start out goofy and get a bit more serious.

This show is just PC crap. Plain and simple. 

Which seldom holds any weight coming from someone with a Sonic related reference as their username.

Heeeeeyyyy, don't knock Sonic Team out of hand! Sonic 1 to 3, Sonic Adventure, and NiGHTS 1 were good. And Jun Senoue is a hawt Japanese rock star guy (Seriously, decently handsome, plays the electric guitar in a badass band...rowr).

The show has always been mediocre.

It's still the best cartoon on TV at the moment even if Season 3 was a downhill a little.

I think it has found it's groove again with the recent episodes

It's because emotions are the most important part of being human.
