Just saw the episode, I loved it. I honestly don't know how the higher-ups at CN don't have a problem with this. Are they just cool with it, or do they honestly not know what is going on? Anyways the episode was great and I loved the music, and it was cool seeing Pearl go crazy.
shareThe writers use the genderless excuse to avoid any direct criticisms while at the same time putting out childrens programming that supports the LGBT community. If anyone gets their panties in a knot over this show, then they can say "gems aren't gay, they just use female forms"
I think Cartoon Network would have never okayed this show if they knew Rebecca Sugar was going this direction from the start. If CN cancelled this show now, they would get so much heat up the a$$ they wouldn't be able to sit for a year. As I understand it, CN has gay employees who like the show, but even though things are more tolerable these days, I can't see the bean counters taking a chance on this show for fear of backlash from the bible thumpers. Now they are in too deep and cancelling the show would be a sign of homophobia. Then again, CN has ****canned plenty of good shows in recent years.
