We want a PG-14 Steven Universe!

Many adults enjoys Steven Universe despite it targets Children, So it will be nice if the Creator "Rebecca Sugar" make a reboot for the adults.

The last time a cartoonist made an adult reboot of their show, we got the atomic trainwreck that was Ren & Stimpy Adult Party Cartoon.

SU seems intentionally targeted for ALL ages, so no thanks.

I remember that one - they made Ren & Stimpy a gay couple and had an episode where Stimpy thought he was pregnant( Despite being a male). I won't forget about the one where Ren sought psychological help, that was pretty disturbing stuff and not in a funny way either.

Just wait 20-30 years to super serious movie like most popular cartoons

reply

PG-14? Lol. I think you mean PG-13.

reply

PG-14 is a rating outside of the US.

reply

Do we really need that? The show is already very mature, and the way they handle heavy themes are wonderful and adds charm to the show

A straight-to-the-point, blunt "Steven Universe" would be horrible.
It's perfect the way it is

And it doesn't really target children specifically, it aims for all ages, young and old.
Like most of Cartoon Network's shows does.

Stop trying to steal things from children: it's why comicbook movies are taking themselves too seriously...well, the DC ones at least.

This reminds me of that time that someone made an 'adult' "Wizard of Oz" series...

reply

Are we referring to Emerald city ? Just started.

reply

Speaking of that series, it's not faring well in audience ratings. Drew only a 1.5 audience share for the first episode.

Seems like no one wanted it.

reply

The beauty of Steven Universe is that it is great for all ages, and I think that it should stay that way.

reply

It would be interesting to do a tv movie or movie with a bit higher mature rating.
But what I think the original poster meant with the 14 rating is TV-14 where its like the PG-13 version of a movie shown in theaters.

reply

The show is already TV-PG, only one step below TV-14. What would be the point? Blood and light swearing.
