Is Superman really the big gun of JLA?

I've just started reading the JLA comics so I might not know that much but is Superman really the strongest hero in this movie? (Batman referred to him as "The big gun"). I thought that title would go to Shazam.

Anyway, what do you think?

To be honest, I've always felt like the most powerful member should be Martian Manhunter. He has nearly the same powerset as Superman but he also has telepathy, telekinesis, shape shifting and phasing. I think the only reason Superman is still shown stronger than him is from pure PIS and because the writers want it to be so.

Remember not only is superman super strong but also could travel super fast
If I throw a rock at your head it might give you a headache
If I throw it with all my might I might kill you
If I throw it 100 miles and hour it would rip your head off
Now if I throw it at you 400 miles per hour
By the time you tried to pick your hand up to block it
It went through your head
How many people could stand being him by him
Now at super speed
And he is flying at super speed
That why he is the big gun
Its the best of both worlds

reply

Throwing a rock at someone at superspeed with super strength is useless if you can just phase through the rock. Even more useless if you already know that that person is about to throw the rock at you.

Regardless of twists and spins, Superman is universally regarded as the most powerful western comic superhero. Hence, the name Superman. Of course, he cannot be all omnipotent otherwise there will be no story for him. This has also become the main challenge for movie makers to develop a Superman movie.

Superman is probably the strongest superhero among all the comic book heroes. It still is debatable, but I really think he is the strongest, not technically the best. He has all the powers, while other's only has one. He is immortal, his only weakness is Kryptonite. He is DEFINITELY the big guns of JLA.

I like spoilers 😀😂

reply

no he is not due to being vulnerable against Magic and Kyriptonite but he posses something far greater like Captain America in Marvel they can not be corrupted and have strong ideas on freedom plus he tries never killing a life creature.

Superman and the hulk are the two most powerful superheros. They have been in fights where they may have not won, but they have won more than their share of them. Only doomsday and darksied can beat superman. Only the sentry and onslaught have been remotely close to beating the hulk.

reply

Superman has always been the "Big Gun".

reply

Yes, Superman is the "big gun" but Batman is more or less the leader. You don't always have to be the strongest to be the leader. HIs skills, intellect, technology, and (lets be honest), money allow him to stand on par with these god-like beings. After all, he saved them all how many times in the 2001 series?

Honestly, Superman shouldn't be so much stronger than the rest of the Justice League. He should be a little stronger or equal with many of them. I think these members should be able to give Supes a run for his money/best him:

Shazam - basically Superman w/ magic
Martian Manhunter - basically Superman w/ psychic
Green Lantern
The Flash!!!! - honestly, they make Flash so weak. He should really be the strongest member by far if his powers were used to the full extent.

It's just the writers nerfing them, honestly.

Wendy? Darling? Light, of my life!
