Goverment lady could not let him go before the trial and judge could give him a considerable sentence. How did they know the goverment lady will let him go? Wasn't it risky?

Yeah I thought so too. But I wondered if they investigated her history and if she had strong maternal instincts. But then again, why didn't they show that at the end?

she let him hack the government witness program, that's why she could've let him go I guess. He put himself into the system and that was it, he was free to go.
