The acting of main child star is really terrible.

I've recently finished Stranger Things and I was astounded by the level of child acting there. Here it's unfortunately the other way around. The movie itself isn't really great, but it could have been a bit better if Neel Sethi would be at least relatively good in his acting. During the film I thought "OK, he is around 7 probably, so he can't play as good as older ones do", but then I've read that he's actually the same age of Stranger Things actors, so.. he really isn't the future of cinema.

I found him hard to understand for the first half hour. His speech became a bit clearer - or maybe my ears adjusted - after that. He looked the part, but wasn't the best actor.

Yeah his acting wasn't the best, but when you realize he's basically talking to himself the entire movie (all CGI) I can't dog him too bad.

I'm not sure what people expected from a child actor portraying Mowgli. The role requires the actor to show Mowgli's playfulness, mischief and eventual maturity into leading the jungle (something the 1967 version didn't show). I thought Sethi did fine and people saying he was "terrible" and ruined the film are just being absurd.

I think he wasnt that bad considering this was the first time he acted in anything give the kid some slack it was his first time ever if he sticks at it and isnt bullied out of acting like what happened to jake loyd by some A holes , his acting will improve.

Go see Kelly Reno in "The Black Stallion." Except for riding and interacting with the horse (wordlessly), he's just god-awful.

I agree. He was the weakest part of the film and he was hard to get through on some parts. I understand this is his first time acting and he's basically by himself but this us a huge budgeted film and they couldn't find another kid who had experience?!
