Here's What I See

I see a bunch of guys pissed off because they were left out of things, all colluding to tell a so-called "documentarian" exactly what she wanted to hear. And is it a surprise that if you put a bunch of fallible witnesses into the same room and ask them to tell the same story they just heard the last guy tell, they will?

The production was as shoddy and as tainted as it claims the investigation it details, was. Notice they provide all the "evidence" that fits their presupposition, but they explain nothing of the other side, except for what little they feel they can reveal and still get away with belittling. The word "impossible" is used often where "improbable" is more suitable.

Government agencies are secretive, yes. But if you want to convince an intelligent person that they are covering something up with that secrecy, you need to provide proof of what they are covering up, why, and how. That seems to have been forgotten here.

When I saw this in my feed on Netflix, and I saw it had nearly four full stars, I expected a respectable documentary that would show every side of the investigation, the impact on the families of the victims of the tragedy, and any new conclusion brought to light by possible new evidence. I did not expect to be treated to a conspiracy-fest just one notch above Ancient Aliens in respectability, and just one notch below it in quality.

Was Flight 800 brought down by a missile? I don't know. It's possible. Was it due to some kind of mechanical failure? I don't know. That also is possible. Did I learn anything from this dreck of a flick? I learned that confirmation bias is a bitch. Wait... I already knew that. So I learned nothing, really. What a waste of time.
