It's Bothering Me that Winner's Row People...

...are acting like they actually give a crap about each other when it's obvious they would slit each other's throats for that two million.

Tonight, when Brandon kept saying "I wanted to win this bout for Hayley," it was beyond fake. I thought "You wanted to win for YOURSELF. Are you going to give Hayley that money you just won?"

Hayley--who really never should have been on Winner's Row in the first place, and got big-time lucky against Rishe--also cried a ton of crocodile tears for her "friends" on Winner's Row whenever it looked like they might get beat. When you just know she was really thinking "lose! Lose so I can win more money!"

When Andrew (who pretends to be buddies with Brandon even though he put him up against a really good player a few nights ago that ended in a close tiebreaker, hoping to knock out his only obvious competition still standing) was actively being a **** to Eric because he had the gall to beat someone on Winner's Row, it was the final straw in me not liking him. He said something along the lines of not wanting new people to come into Winner's Row when there are only days left--I'm sorry, but part of the reason the game has gotten so stale is because the same people have been there for days and there's not a strong chance of newcomers beating them. Andrew just wanted to keep Hayley around because 1. It's probably the only time a pretty girl will talk to him, when they're forced to be together to win money, 2. It's someone he knew he could beat in the finals. She isn't a strong player at all, and if you get wise to her doubling strategy, she's unlikely to beat you in a straight-up trivia challenge.

Well, kind of yes and no. Remember that these people have been spending close to four entire days less than ten feet from one another. You will develop strong bonds like that.

Further, the way that this game is designed means that the money for each player in winner's row never goes down. If you are in a shaky third or fourth place, you want first or second place to remain where they are and maybe even gain some more money. That means that some newcomer isn't going to gain ground and knock you out. Better the devil you know than the devil you don't, as they say.

Yes, they all want to slit each other's throats, but there is no need to do that until the final night. If a winner gets knocked out before that, someone else takes their money and you are in no better position than before.

I was also rooting for Eric because of the hazing he got off the other players. The way they just tried so hard to keep new players off the row was not only wrong-headed, it made the show boring to watch.
