Jenna is annoying.
shareReally? I love Jenna

Jenny is too annoying. BUT she will win.
shareNot if she keeps cooking like she did tonight. I'm rooting for Jimmy or Nathan.
shareSeems like she had a bad night. It happens. If they do want a girl to win this time, it pretty much as to be Jenna so short of setting herself on fire she is almost guaranteed to win.
shareI like all the kids, but my favorites are Jimmy and Nathan as well.

Speaking of Nathan... why hasn't he got a haircut yet?
When he put his hair back with that hair bracelet (whatever it's called), he looked a lot like a new girl I didn't recognize. If he has to keep it pulled back when doing competition, either put it in a ponytail, or lob it off, man!
Long hair > short hair I hope he wins because he has long hair and long hair is cool.

I disagree on Andrew. Well, partially. It's clear he tries to act tough and show off in the kitchen. But his leadership style did come around. He helped Jenna last week for no personal gain. He worked well with Riley. Nathan said he's really nice but changed in the kitchen.
shareJenna friggin' burned the chickpea cakes to the point where they had NONE for the VIP judges. She should have gone home because of that alone.
Then Andrew, with his pompous ass trying to rule to the kitchen & play the role of Gordon Ramsay by barking orders to his pheasants. He wasn't a team leader, he was a dictator.
Jimmy at least kept it friendly to his teammates. His communication wasn't the best, but he didn't bark orders.
This is kind of why both Andrew & Jenna should have gone home. In other words, the blue team should have lost.
Andrew's true colors showed up.
"Andrew's true colors showed up. "
That he shows off and has a poor idea of how to run a kitchen. Nathan even said he was normally nice. He changed his style once he was called out and realized it wasn't working.

I keep trying to find something to like about Andrew, but - damn, I just can't find it.
He is still young enough to become something better, though. Hopefully he will grow up into someone decent.
By all accounts he has. Did you not hear Nathan? Andrew's a nice guy. It's just when put in charge of the kitchen he tries to show off and act like Gordon.
shareGuess I'm the only one that has been a consistent supporter of Andrew, I just dont get the angst towards him, to each his own though.
shareJust go back an episode. He was really nice to Jenna in that one. He isn't nearly as pompous as Samuel was, and even Samuel wasn't that bad. If he has never had a chance to be in charge of anything, and has had mostly terrible role models for how to manage a group of people (starting with Gordon Ramsay himself) what do you expect?
shareAndrew, Alexander, and Samuel are one and the same to me--pretentious, arrogant, and a bit of a bully. I was rooting for Ayla, who has both talent and a nice disposition. I'm sure Andrew will win this season, though I'm rooting for Nathan or Jimmy at this point.
shareSamuel was always a bit smug, and Andrew can be as well but don't forget the show encourages that kind of thing. I don't remember Alexander being anything but nice. Give kids a lot of positive re-enforcement and they start thinking they can do anything and given a chance to talk about it, all the hybole comes out. What is more important is how they treat other people, and other than when Andrew was put in charge (and was having a hard time getting people to do what he wanted) and he started channeling Gordon Ramsay he has actually mostly been very nice and supportive to the other chefs. Even in that case, when vinager wasn't working he started being nicer and more encouraging again and the team did ok.
On top of all that, Andrew took the better part of a minute (though how much we cannot tell) during the last 5 minutes of the section to help Jenna (one of the better cooks there) get her sauce right. This is the time someone would be most forgiven for being selfish and letting the other contestant fail, but he did not. It seems he couldn't help helping her. I have a hard time faulting him for that; it is one of the most considerate things I have seen anyone do on this show and its many variations.
Every word in Zippy's post is true.
Alexander seemed very nice. I think people are haphazardly lumping contestants together who are really, personality-wise, not similar at all.
As for Andrew early in the takeover challenge, not many 12 year olds have learned how to be great leaders yet. He tried what he thought was the way Gordon did things, and then he changed it up when it wasn't working. He has shown repeatedly that he is compassionate. From his work with Riley and Jenna to the sorrow he has shown since the beginning when castmates have been voted off. The adult competitors have been much less concerned with the misfortunes of others. In fact, they often exhibit shadenfreude at those times.
ITA.
I find many people on this board equates "confident, calm and composed" with "smug", because that's the only trait that I see common among Alexander, Samuel, and Andrew.
Samuel gave a bit of an image of smug because he held his head up and eyes looked down a little bit when he talked. But guess what? My 2.5 year old nephew look at people that way since he was an infant, and yet he is the sweetest kid and loves everyone.
Some people are very quick to jump to conclusions.

Andrew is no Samuel. He is a bit arrogant but also helps people and does not come across as holier than thou. He seems like a nice kid whereas Samuel did not. I also never thought of Alexander as a Samuel. He was a slightly awkward kid with a gentle demeanor but also one he was good. The only traits I see all the boys have in common is there body type.
shareAnd that's enough for some people to think of them all as the same, regardless of their actual significant differences.

What do you to bet that on next seasons MC Junior the overweight white boy will be instantly grouped as another Samuel?
too predictable, too lazy, time to move on from this tired routine from the same posters here.

He's not that bad. It was really nice of him to help Jenna.

I totally agree. It's going just like it did last year. Tonight, after Gordon tasted Andrew's mousse and said it was way too sweet, to me that was cheating. It gave Andrew a chance to re-do it. Gordon didn't taste anything from anyone else before they were finished.
He has shown a very kind side more than once, but he was also a bully in the restaurant challenge until Gordon chastised him. I think Gordon keeps giving him the advantage.
If Andrew DOES win, I won't be watching it again next year and I've loved the show.
~*~*~ ~*~*~
Actually, they taste ALL the contestants' dishes and make suggestions while the competition is in progress. They just don't show all of them.
Andrew is no bully. He was a little bossy in the restaurant challenge, but that's a far cry from bullying.
If Andrew does win--and I don't believe he will--it will be because he deserves to win.
