Do these celebrities get paid an appearance fee?

Now I know if a celebrity is chosen by the winning contestant he or she has a chance to win $10,000 for their charity. Does anyone know how much these celebrities get paid to be on the show? Even though they may come on the premise of charity I doubt they don't get paid. Anyone has any idea?

I don't know but if I was a celebrity, I wouldn't care about the money. I mean, c'mon, we're talking about a super fun night, like a party...Just playing and laughing a lot. I would go for free. You could say that a lot of celebrities are greedy and all-about-the-money, but for me it really wouldn't mind. I mean, if I as a viewer burst into laughter just by watching the show, imagine what is it like to actually be there and play the games. Having a night replete with joy, fun and laughter would already be priceless to me.

I don't think they get paid. I think the producers of the show contact the celebs through the charity. That way the celeb wont say no in fear of looking bad. Also, a lot of actor's contracts require them to put in face time on television. Things like appearing on Leno and Ellen. I'm sure this would count towards that.

We used to make sh-t in this country. Build sh-t. Now we put our hands in the next guys pocket.

Ok that makes sense, it would be good PR also.

A lot of the celebs are Sean Hayes friends. So most likely how they are asked to appear.

I think because they are union, they must still get the 450 or so bucks they get paid when they are on a talk show.

reply

Right. They're in both SAG and AFTRA and when you'r in a union you go by union rules which means you get paid for each performance you do. I wouldn't doubt that many of them don't take the money or donate it but they do have to be paid.
