What were they thinking ????

After last year's phenomenal gujarati movie Kevi Rite Jaish, I expected The Good Road to cross the benchmark but rather it ended up being an extremely mediocre movie.

The Good Road has got a very mundane story, doesn't offer a charming music and not even a heart touching intriguing direction. It makes me scratch my head to wonder how this movie ended up fetching an Oscar entry from India (that too over a marvel like The Lunchbox). I am not at all amazed at Anurag Kashyap & Karan Johar banging their heads on the wall.

Yes, the scenic landscape of Kutch is captured well but even that isn't a master piece. There are places, where those scenes could have been shot better (Let's see how Ramleela does). The only good part is solid dialogue delivery that makes the movie look much closer to ground reality.

Summing up, it's another massive mighty blunder by Indian Film Federation. My heart goes out to Ritesh Batra.....selection of this movie shows pity state of the nation.

Well, I agree with you that The Lunchbox is better than this on-road off-movie. But winning would still be elusive. I sincerely doubt the decision by FFI but we can;t help it. Let's see who's right in the near future!

And it turns out makers of "The Lunchbox" were right.

The Good Road's director stated his intentions were to capture ordinary lives, therefore a neo-realist narrative. While The Good Road might be mundane, it is staying true to its neo-realist influence.

I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not.
