Do you think Gene will die?

They really seemed to be hinting that in the Breaking Bad episode however I felt that was too obvious and I don’t think they would practically spoon feed us the ending 2 episodes out.

I think he probably is going to die. The question is how he will die? Suicide?

reply

I think his obvious next step is to call Ed the vacuum guy but seeing how Robert Forester is dead I’m guessing it’s going to turn out the character is either A) Dead or B) Doesn’t answer the phone

Another question to consider is: does he have time to get back to his condo to retrieve any cash he has & his diamonds, etc, before the police find out where he lives. Jeff & Marion know his fake name, but I don't think they know where he lives.

I hope so - end of Jimmy/Saul/Gene - story comes to an end.. What are the alternatives?

He goes to prison - boring and really doesn't wrap up the story.

He changes his identity - he's already done that and doesn't really wrap up the story.

reply

The alternative is that Gene/Saul already has a bug-out plan. And 700K in loot to fund it. The identity theft mark just thinks he was robbed. He has no idea anyone took pictures of his financial accounts and password info.

I feel that however this last episode goes, it'll be 100% final & sequel-proof, which is the way it should be.

I'm seeing a lot of speculation on the teaser of Kim reciting her oath, & whether or not it's a flashback, or becoming a lawyer again. Assuming it's canon & will be in the finale, I would say it's a flashback to when she first became a lawyer. Given her affidavit confessing to multiple counts of fraud in the plot to discredit Howard, that would ruin any chance of her practicing law again.....period.

Agree that the ending should be final and sequel proof = Jimmy dying, but I do think the Alaska Airline sign was an Easter Egg, so I think Kim's fate is a little more open.

I wish they would die together in some spectacular ending. If that happens, it's going to be hard to be more gripping than Nacho's or Howard's death.

Imo thats not who Saul is, he's not a tough guy, he's not the type of criminal to go down in a blaze of glory of gunfire like Walt, he's a sleazy con man. If the cops find him he's not gonna pull a gun out and go out shooting nor do i see him even being armed and giving cops any reason to shoot him.

Imo he gets caught and put in prison and the show ends with Kim visiting him and having 1 final conversation and Saul spends the rest of his days in prison likely scheming and doing con jobs in there.

reply

This would be the most realistic end. Slippin's Jimmy in jail.

reply

Yeah, cause i just can't see him dying, he couldn't even bring himself to hurt the old woman, i don't see him pulling a gun on a cop or even resisting arrest if caught, its just not who he is. He's not a tough outlaw, he's a con man, he's done some bad things but he's never physically hurt anyone with his own hands.

The most realistic end as i said is him getting arrested and continuing to con in prison, if he's shot and killed it just wouldn't feel true to the character imo. Thats how someone like Walt and Gus goes down, not Saul.

reply

Lol well well looks like i was right on the money.

reply

Yep and he wasn't going to escape either.

Could do a faux ending at the dumpster scene as he pulls the phone out after memorising what he was going to say to the Disappearer (Ed the Vacuum Cleaner guy), then next we see Jimmy/Saul/Gene is in a home with a family leading a regular 9-5 life, as in a cut to the opening of Bob Odenkirk's film Nobody (maybe that'd keep people happy lol).

I mean it wouldn't be a tribute one to the Newhart ending like the Breaking Bad/Malcolm In The Middle one, just a cut together but still could be done, as in this one they did for BB/MitM: https://vimeo.com/499834907

I think I'd maybe like to see him biting the bullet and redeeming himself by turning himself in once he gets news that Kim is facing time (assuming that happens). Maybe sacrificing his own freedom to get her off the hook somehow (although I'm unsure how that would work). I believe I'd feel satisfied seeing the series end with Jimmy in prison, scheming and working his smooth-talking magic on all the guards and prisoners. In color, of course. It would be pretty depressing to watch such a fun character go out like Walt did.
