'Better Call Saul' Renewed for 6th and Final Season at AMC

The final season will be 13 episodes and will go into production later this year and air in 2021. News that the Breaking Bad spinoff is coming to an end was announced by showrunner Peter Gould and co-creator Vince Gilligan at the show's Television Critics' Association winter press tour panel. The news comes just over a month before the season 5 premiere on Feb. 23.

"Greenlighting a prequel to one of the most iconic series in television history is one of the boldest swings that AMC has ever taken. But, thanks to the creative genius of Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould, it has also been one of the most rewarding," added AMC Networks and AMC Studios president Sarah Barnett. "It has been an absolute joy to collaborate with the extraordinarily talented team on Better Call Saul, which - five seasons in - continues to deliver some of the best storytelling and most beautifully nuanced performances on television today. We congratulate Vince, Peter, our producers, writers and cast on a remarkable run and look forward to sharing this final chapter with fans."

I'm happy about this, it's honestly what I've hoped for. I never thought it needed to surpass BB, but by one symbolic episode is fine. Though I do worry 13 episodes might feel a little long, but probably not.

My predictions/hopes: Season 5 will have Walter White return for an episode, and we'll see the events of Breaking Bad, condensed, from Saul's pov. Then time jump, and Season 6 will be about what happens to him after Breaking Bad.

that will be great! exactly what I hope for.

But I don't think they will do like that.. Yah, maybe and just maybe Bryan Cranston will appear at the final season, but I do not think they will dedicated an entire season to tell what happened to Saul. :(

I'll be happy at last if they came to a final and decent conclusion, not just as a prequel but as sequel.

This would be interesting and fun. I think it makes sense as I don't think BB showed much of the aftermath for Saul. So it would be good to see how he ends up.

I like that type of ending a lot. For one thing, it is clear in the post-BB scenes that Jimmy and Kim are no longer together. Perhaps the 6th season can show him winning her back.

Sad news :(

Oh well at least it will be a longer season.

Looks like we'll finally get an end to the opening 'Gene' segments, I can't wait to see what's next in the Breaking Bad Universe.
