I mean Werner's wife is going to think that Werner was killed in an accident, the first thing she is going to want to do is talk to people who were there ie. Werner's crew, how can Gus count on them to keep quiet? It just seems like a cautious guy like Gus would never send the crew home alive.

You ask a good question. After the Werner incident, I can see Gus grappling with some tough decisions. Let them go home creates problems. "Take care of them all" also creates problems, as I assume they have loved ones who will be extremely suspicious how 8 Germans disappeared in a secret job over in America. Even if something like that happened today in the real world, that would be global news.

I think Gus was initially going to pay them and not have them "taken care of", he's a professional and he depends upon his reputation and if he started killing everyone who did a job for him no one would ever want to do business with him again. However now that he had to have Werner killed his wife is going to start asking questions and I would imagine her husband's crew would be the first people she would try to find out what happened from. Now it's a question of whether Gus can trust the rest of the crew to stand up to the heat and not talk.
