I admit that I am no longer clear on what Gus and Mike are doing

I had thought (once upon a time) that the whole point of the housing in the warehouse, the truck, the blindfolds, etc, was to make sure the German crew doesn't know where they work, and therefore, could never lead the authorities to the location.
Gus and Mike brought Werner over blindfolded and transported him in a dark truck across state lines and into the laundromat. They brought in his crew in a similar fashion. They are housing them in a sealed off warehouse and monitoring their every move, not allowing them to leave on their own.

The whole idea was - I had believed - that none of them know where the lab is, that they are even in Albuquerque or even in the state of New Mexico! (they had them fly into Colorado if you recall).

Ok. Now. In the most recent episode the following happened:
1. They take the guys to a titty bar. The inside of this establishment could - in any number of ways - disclose the fact that they are in ABQ, NM.

2. Mike takes Werner to a nearby bar. The chances of figuring out the city and state is increased here.

3. Even if - if! - all of the above took place out of state (they could trucked them all to Denver for their R&R, let's say)... Mike actually tells Werner the next day when he is berating him that they were (and are) in Albuquerque!

Hello?! Werner (and presumably his men) know the city and state they are in, know Mike's full name (see episode before last) and Werner can describe Gus, having met him in person!!!

This is being careful? Really? Just put them up in a Red Roof Inn and save the exorbitant expenses of building them their own private play camp.

It did seem a little out of place for Mike to take them to the strip club, and even have them go outside as we saw the bouncer kick out the german. I have no doubt that Werner knows where they are now, probably the rest of the guys too. Oh well, either way we know the project is completed one way or another, it'll be interesting to see if it's by these guys or if Gus has to bring in another team.

reply

Yeah that didn’t make much sense they should have blindfolded them and driven them to some town in Colorado

reply

At the very least they should have done that, if not simply tell them to freaking man up and do their jobs.

reply

At least one of those guys is going to have to be "taken care of".

reply

it makes no sense. the show is deteriorating. they're getting lazy and sloppy.

the huell caper was dumb, aside from the funny cajun accent, which is probably why they cooked it up.

i'm kind of going off this show now. compared to the exquisite character drama between the brothers, this stuff just doesnt measure up. they need another nemesis for jimmy.

reply

And the only reason he did the Cajun accent was it was the accent he used for one of his recurring characters on Mr. Show.

The whole season has been filler episodes. Very disappointed.

I agree. That was really stupid, and not like Mike at all. I foresee people being killed.

Won't matter if they just bury them all in the cement when they pour the floor.

reply

That just might happen.

reply

Kind of what I expect.

reply

They might kill them, but I don’t think they will cement them in the lab. Because, had that happened, the bodies would have been discovered by the feds in Breaking Bad.

Remember that flashback at the start of episode 4? Mike and Matty pouring concrete?

reply

That would make for a good visual callback, I agree. But after the lab blows up in B.B., and the feds go over every inch of it, I think they would have discovered the bodies in the walls or floor.

You know, I was thinking we might see the start of putting bodies in barrels of acid with this crew...

reply

Mike didn't know about putting people in acid when Walt suggested it. So no.

reply

Fair enough. I didn't recall how that came about. Seems like something Gus would already know about considering his work with cartels.

reply

Well, the synopsis for one of the future episodes says 'Mike faces a difficult decision'. One can only guess what it could be.
Probably eliminating the whole German crew. Then sending a postcard to Martha.

reply

Indeed very sloppy however they will be killed anyway.

If you watch the promo for the next episode Wiedersehen, which means good bye in German, it shows a lot of Mike and the warehouse/lab situation. Think it's one of the Germans that goes bye bye made to look like an accident. We haven't seen any deaths for a while now. It shows Mike looking for something at the warehouse with a flashlight and both Mike and Tyus are up to something. There's a scene with someone at a switchboard that could set off explosives.

reply

That was the original plan, but the accident put them way behind schedule and they were having issues with morale, so Gus approved their field trip. Also he might have decided to kill them when they are done, so it no longer matters what they see.
