I still don't see what the big deal was with the commercial

OK so jimmy should have ran it by cliff first, but it was very effective and it was by the books. Threatening to fire him was a bit of an over reaction don't you think? Why not a "Jimmy it's a good commercial and everything but next time you need to keep us in the loop"

reply

Yeah I thought Davis and Main's reaction was very strange. Despite the fact that your commercial was very well made, very effective, and we left client outreach up to you, we would prefer an extremely bland commercial that can't possibly get as many calls as this one. It's not like having more clients for our class action means more money and a stronger case or anything, oh wait, it does?

reply

Seriously and they kept talking about how they had an image to maintain and I fail to see how that commercial hurt their image. Again I understand that he wouldn't want Jimmy running commercials left and right without his approval but again all he really deserved was a job well done on the commercial and a slap on the wrist for not telling the partners about it.

reply

Right. I think part of it is the ego of partners, and how even if it's great and it totally works, the new guy can't possibly have the good ideas if the bosses didn't babysit the whole thing. A lot of these lawyers are real pieces of work, and that I feel is pretty accurate.

reply

That makes a lot of sense, I can see lawyers being real pricks, what's really sad though is that when he started there things were so good between him and Cliff and it went downhill so quickly.

reply

Yeah Jimmy never gave that one the shot it deserved.

reply

It's never a good idea to go over your employer's head like that.

reply

Agreed, but one time, and then immediately jump to threats of dismissal, without appreciation for the positive impact to the case, which should be their priority, was douchey to the max.

reply

I think they were trying to nip this in the bud by throwing the book at Saul. Otherwise, it might set a bad precedent within the firm. A threat of dismissal would ensure no one crosses the line again.

reply

That's true, he really should have just waited a week, because Cliff would have probably signed off if he had foreknowledge.

reply

Yes as I stated I understand why they didn't want him to go over their heads but Jimmy didn't understand why it was a big deal so again he should have just been reminded not to do that and if he did it again yes I could see the partners being pissed but the point still stands that Cliff and the partners completely over-reacted.

If the commercial had made the firm look bad I could also understand them being pissed but it didn't, it was a good commercial and it turned out to be incredibly effective.
