Opinions?

Has anyone seen it yet? I'm half-way through, and though a lot of the story has been changed, the spirit of the original series is still there. I love it so far.

I skipped around and I loved the last two minutes of it, perfect ending!

I loved it. The changes don't really bother me, except for Aoshi killing Okina. That was unnecessary. Otherwise, the whole thing was splendid.

Oh! I stopped at the part where Kenshin leaves.Okina ends up dying? That's dumb!!

I also liked that there was a little bit a romance, not too much.

Takeru Sato is the absolute best for Kenshin. Sano's actor was great too! Sad to see it end.

It can't end until they adapt the Revenge arc.

I loved it. The fight between Kenshin and Aoshi was awesome. The fight between Kenshin and Soujiro was also good (In the manga, it was great). The Ending fight was purely amazing. I also loved the part that he actually defeated Shishio before he burst into flames.

It was good. The third one (2nd half of Kyoto Inferno) just kinda ruined the trilogy a bit for me. It was good, especially the final battle but i just didn't like the things they put in.

Aoishi's character was the one that bothered me the most. He was some unknown dude who just poped up and his whole reason of hunting down kenshin was just to get some self-title of the best. Which was really lame imo. The biggest mistake was not puting Aoishi in the 1st film, he should have been the one who fought kenshin instead of the dude with the barretas. If they went that way, then aoishi's reason for hunting down kenshin could have been for avengeing his fallen comrads or his defeat from the first movie I think keeping Aoishi's reason for hunting down kenshin close to the anime would have made him interesting and made the whole movie more interesting. I still remember the whole dialogue between Shishio and Aosihi in the anime: "Would you like to kill me and place that as flowers on the graves of your fallen comrads?". Aoishi was just more real in reason in the anime, here it was just an obvious filler with no thought.

The 10 swords were just extras, they were just there so that anime fans can go "hey that's [insert name]...." and that is all. Usui was taken out like rookie against Saito, which is a shame because Saito vs Usui was one of the best battles in the Anime version of the kyoto arc. In the movie, the guy just walks to saito and gets taken out like a punk.. infact i think the whole beach scene could have gone better if the 10 swords were shown as complete jokes. They could of had the 10 swords more terrorizing with out the need of a backstory or character depth and had Hiko Sijouro come in to assist Misao and the gang in taking them on.

Saito also was almost rookie like against Shishio, i mean this was the guy who was the closest in killing shishio in the anime but in the movie he was handled like an amateur against shishio. Sano was the most impressive to me because he fought for real, meaning dirty moves such as swinging chairs, grabing shishio by the legs and all that... they did a great job.

There is just somethings in the movie that i felt could have been thought out better. It's a 7.1 star for the Legend ends for me, 7.9 for the Kyoto inferno. i WILL SAY it again, The Legend ends did ruin the whole trilogy a bit.

I totally agree with you on Aoshi, it's like, another guy chasing after Kenshin???? For such a lame reason? Could have totally done w/o him if they didn't put him in the first one.

Then BAM suddenly he appears on the ship???

I think the guy who played Aoshi did well, and I loved the costume, it looked worn as hell.

10 swords were just some goons! I understand why they wouldn't elaborate too much on them, the movie would end up being 5 hours, but just leave them out then.

Also in what time did Saito change? He went from the executioner uniform to his police uniform in a snap lol

Totally miss not having Hiko show up! The Shishio fighting, was funny. He kept asking who the hell was Sano lol

If they would have released the movie a year later, the movie could have been better thought out.

The actor of Aoishi was good, but he did look too old for the character. I think if they left Aoishi out, the movie would have been a high upset, i guess putting him in with a lame story is the best way.

I loved it. The best part was making Shishio far less invincible than in the anime. The film made a point of showing that Kenshin managed land quite a few hits on Shishio before getting bitten, indicating that Kenshin would've beaten him sooner if he intended to kill using a sharp blade.

Geek out moment: Kuzu Ryu Sen. I never had any hope of it being portrayed on film because of its ridiculous effect (simultaneously striking nine points). They did it, and it looked great.

Geek out moment 2: Amakakeru Ryu no Hirameki. Instead of one extra step to boost his draw, he took three extra steps!

Very minor gripes: revealing Kenshin and Ito's plan too soon. I felt that much-needed tension was missing during the execution scene as a result of that scene being shown too early. Also, Usui could've traded a few more blows with Saito before going down.

Agree with all of this.
Actually I also would've liked for them to have faced the Juppongatana on the ship instead of the beach and have Seijuro Hiko show up and take them on so Kenshin & co. could go fight Shishio ASAP.
Considering his level of skill, it's a bit of a waste not to use him more. Totally dug his scenes though.

Which part was the Kuzu Ryu Sen shown? I totally missed it.

When Seijuro Hiko practices with Kenshin with a stick and when Kenshin fights Aoshi.

I loved the movies as well but I do think the third film is weaker than the other two. My main complaints are how they really wrote themselves in a corner in regards to Aoshi. Aoshi is my favourite Kenshin character so you can imagine how confused and upset I was with the first movie. They really couldn't do the Kyoto arc without Aoshi so they half assed a rivalry with Kenshin and there you go.

I do think we will be getting the revenge arc, maybe not away but soon. I have two reasons for this train of thought, but remember it is all highly hypothetical.

A) Gein was in the first movie, Gein is a player with Enishi in the revenge arc and if I recall correctly he isn't killed in the first movie nor is he arrested. I always assumed that they were going to lead up to something with him for future films.

B). I saw a youtube video during the red carpet and an interviewer asked the director if he'd do another movie. He did said the next movie he'd like to do would be a prequel. So the interest for Trust and Betrayal and the inevitable revenge arc is there. I just think he's either waiting for the green light or he's just taking a break from Kenshin. I'm pretty sure they filmed these two movies right after the first one, but I could be wrong.

I will not fear, fear is the mind killer
