ending (spoiler!)

SPOILER: Did Manuel have any motive to kill Julio? What was it? When in the movie did he decide to kill him? If Julio had been willing to leave when Manuel asked him to, would he have been allowed to go? Can anyone account for Manuel's behavior other than by saying he was insane (which would simply make the story arbitrary and uninteresting)?

reply

He killed Julio because Julio found Manuel did something awful (a blood-soaked hammer with big cash in a bag) and tried to leave him telling a lie. He decided to kill him at the instant Julio awkwardly told him he was going to buy some cigarettes, so if Julio had left his room when he asked him to, he wouldn't have been killed.

Never throw away a chance for happiness too quickly...it can get to be a habit.
