Why did they ruin single player with really bad AI?

I know the game is "primarily" a multi player experience.
But that does not mean they should purposely ruin the single player aspect. So much so that single player becomes unplayable if you don't stick to the VERY easy jobs.

The AI in single player is just terrible, it does nothing except shoot...badly So when you carry out a job on your own...you really are on your own, with or without the AI.
Why could you not issue simple commands like grab loot, control crowd, etc. A levelling system for the AI so you can hone their skills.
All you can do is tell them to follow you...and even then they tend to run off in random directions instead, they go anywhere except follow you.
Why can't they pick up and drop off loot, which is a primary objective of most of the jobs?

The ghosts in Pac-Man had better AI than this.

There are squad based games over 10 years older then this that have basic things like squad direction implemented. Some of the first Tom Clancy games for instance.
Squad commands/direction are basic tools required for a squad based game, single or multi player.

This had to have been done on purpose, cos no way they "accidentally" made the AI this bad, knowing what type of game it is...and a sequel.

Good fun in multi player, but just not playable in single player...bet it does not say that on the box does it?

And so, God came forth and proclaimed widescreen is the best.
