That one guy is a

real douche. He quit just to get under Ben's skin because of the whole debacle with the runaway horses. Really good documentary that sheds light on an important issue. Those dudes are tough!

He said that he left the last mile for good luck. I totally understand why he did it. An adventure like that through grand landscapes and huge mountains can be quite humbling. To me that was the most interesting and poetic part of the film and you could see how passionate he was about the whole thing. When you complete an adventure like this you can have an exuberant feeling like you've conquered the earth and nature. By giving up the last mile he chose to be smaller than nature. That's how I interpreted it. Some old cultures have a practice of adding imperfections to pieces of grand art while constructing religious buildings as a way of showing the imperfections of man against the greatness of god/spirit.

When you set out and agree to accomplish a set goal with a team, then there is no such thing as leaving before that goal is reached. Especially not with a lame, "I did it for *insert you choice of excuse*." lame ass excuse. He knew what the goal was and he let the team down, because of his own selfish reasons.

I totally agree, what a complete loser.
I don't buy the 'I did it for luck' rubbish at all. He did it because he thinks he is a special little snowflake, and he let his friends and team down by doing so. That's all!

Probably there was some tension in the group, the journey was 100+ days, and one seemed to be paying more of the cost than the others (I imagined). Perhaps it was a protest or something against a leader or something.

Well it was Ben's docundntary and kickstarter to help other costs. Then again he did have his dad help out a lot too. Idk, I see both sides but if Ben invited that guy he should of finished it.
