this movie makes the police look innocent.

All this talk about whitewashing and not one person that I have seen has drawn attention to how the movie portrays the police. Sure, the film starts off with showing cops abusing the gays. Then it says, oh...these are just a few dirty cops. Then it says they are only raiding the bar trying to flush out a bad pimp.
It completely covers up and excuses everything about the police. Even when the riot breaks out, the cops are doing no harm and a gay person resists arrest (a quite peaceful arrest) and it is her violent attempts to escape arrest that begin the riot.
You guys can bitch all you want about whitewashing but you are really overlooking the main problem with this story. If the police had not been intentionally targeting and harrassing/abusing the gays for no reason other than them being the trash of society, this would never have happened.

No, someone actually mentioned it within another thread. Which is why this movie is so poorly made. There can be two overall problems with movie, but I guess we should just accept the interpretation as historical fact. Be happy with it.

It sucks. There are some really good moments in the movie in reguard to the chi chi rodriguez rip off character.

I'm curious how any characters could rip Chi-Chi Rodriguez off since the Stonewall riots were thirty-six years before "To Wong Foo" was made and there are a multitude of struggling Latino gay/trans people and drag performers out there who have, before Stonewall and long after "To Wong Foo", all had the same dreams and experiences.

Because its a movie and Wong Foo was made way before this. The fact that I have to point this out to you has inspired me to personally say to you "stay in school".

Or you're just incredibly arrogant and think Latina drag queens have only existed since September 1995 when "To Wong Foo" was first released and forgot several of the drag queens featured were real Latina queens, including the deceased Lady Catiria Reyes.
