much worse than I expected.

I completely managed to disassociate this from any actual events and just enjoy it as a fictional story but even then I felt like I was watching a gay movie made by straight people who were just hoping to exploit the community in hopes of making another gay oriented award winner like Brokeback, Monster, Philadelphia, Boys Don't Cry or Transamerica.
It really comes off hokey, offensive, cartoonish, and for a period piece extremely amateurish.

Sounds like a good movie to me.

I like many other people hated those gay oriented undeserving award winner movies.

So if you hated it because it wasn't one of those then it should be amazing.

reply

I guess it would be fun for a straight girl with nothing better to do

reply

Bad acting, bad writing is what's wrong with this movie. Nothing else...

The movie was written by a gay man and directed by another gay man.

I felt like i was....

You tried though. I knew about this project when it was seeking funding, doing casting calls...the director himself made statements in reguard to this movie not being made for a gay audience. I know exactly what this was and unlike it's predecessors it failed.

reply

I "tried" nothing. It is a fact that the film was written and directed by gay men, regardless of how you felt while watching it.

The director was clear about wanting the film to have a wide appeal and not be niche, yes.

What this was was a film that was written and directed by gay men.

Rich old white gay men tell different stories than average gay men
