Ok, so maybe I'm dense, but I didn't understand ANYTHING

So... maybe I'm used to Hollywood simple stories, but I'll admit I didn't understand much. What was Kye's mission again, steal some data from the Arrowhead? Then the whole monster thing and death. Can someone explain that? *What* replicated the humans? Something about a heart? What was the goal of this replication? And so the real Kye was the one in the wall? So it's just clone Kye then, that leaves (and that girl apparently is ok with that...)?

And I didn't undertand the deal with Hatch. Did Hatch intentionally make the Arrowhead crash? Why was Kye not ok with Hatch's plan? Speaking of that, what was Hatch's plan? Didn't quite get his goal. To prevent Lang from using the moon as a prison? Wouldn't Kye be FOR that rather than against? I don't understand why Kye would be against Hatch shooting down Lang's subordinates.

Why would Kye defend someone under Lang (the girl)? I understand they wanted to add a romance aspect but it came off as contrived (they just "conviently" had backstory together... What's the probability of that?).

*sigh* I really didn't understand a thing. I don't know.

You're not dense. It was just a random combination of cool-sounding things that were thrown in. I think a lot of beginning director-writers make this mistake, writing first for the cool scenes they visualise instead of a good story.

There were times when even individual lines of dialog didn't connect to the next line, like the actors were working from different scripts.

Perhaps it got lost in editing, there did seem to be a few interesting ideas that with (much) better execution could have made a decent movie.

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe...

Watch it again as it made sense to me.

It's all about two sides. One wants to make a prison where time flows faster, in order to create a whole load of spaceships. On the planet, however, is a snake type alien that eats then spits out people.

Or something like that. Good story, quite simple, but you have to ensure that you watch and listen. You even see the creature at one point moving in the background within the rocks.

"Or something like that" is not exactly very convincing of the story making sense or being "simple". There is still no explanation on how or why this alien was able to Clone Kye, what the purpose was for. For food? Or why knowing he was just a clone, the girl would just be perfectly ok with that.

It's been a few weeks now since I've seen the movie, but if Hatch (I believe it is) wants to prevent Lang from using the planet as a means of taking the advantage, that doesn't explain why Kye would be against Hatch disrupting Lang's plans or why Hatch had to intentionally crash Kye on the planet.

Whatever. I've come to terms with the fact I won't be understanding anything more than what I did understand.

Hey guys,

So just to start off. Thank you so much for watching the film. So great to hear everyone's opinions on it. We are sorry however that some of it left you confused. I will try and address some of the questions you have here. But before I do that I just want to remind you or tell you for the first time, that this whole movie was created for less than AU$180,000, and that doesn't just include the filming like (The Blair Witch Project or Monsters) this includes all levels of production, like shoot, edit, sound mix, score, art department, location, set creation, etc. With that 17 scenes from the script didn't make it into the camera and were cut on the fly, and others were compromised. There also was no money for any, that's right ANY re-shoots. That just doesn't happen in films. There are always re-shoots.

Hence, massive storyline and plot points were changed in the edit. Half of what REEF says in the final movie was changed in the edit to try and fill the gaps. Because he was the only character who we could afford to re-record with.

Anyway enough with my excuses. Although some things may not be clearly stated on screen. I assure you everything does have an answer. But again I'm sorry if they aren't clear.

Kye's mission is to steal data (later found out to be about Carcere Tempus, the time changing moon) from the Arrowhead ship. The Arrowhead is a Lang financed vessel, which is said to be a scientific vessel. But as we find out it has more secrets. Also to answer your other question yes Kye doesn't want to help Hatch, because he just wants to save his dad from being executed on Liberation Day, but has no other options at the start of the movie.

Also later on, when he begins to hate Hatch it is because he kills innocent scientists, and he believes he has killed Tarren, and also finds out that Hatch put a bomb in his foot to blow him up, and on top of that he is gross to Tarren in the final scene. Hatch's hate of Prisons isn't inherently bad, but he just tends to do things in a bad way.

Also Lang's subordinates aren't inherently evil either. General Lang is referred to as bad person, which they are. However that doesn't make it right for Hatch to murder Lang's subordinates. This includes Tarren, she is just a scientist who believes she is helping the world/s. We would agree that their backstory is too "convenient". But again with extra screens that weren't shot, this would have helped with that.

In terms of how the moon works. It has a life form on it, an underground organism. This organism can grab any other smaller organism and replicate it while keeping the original organism underground. If that duplicate dies, then the underground organism screams and create another duplicate (in the form of an amber monolith).

Anyway I hope these answers help with your questions and general confusion. I'm so glad to hear that you made the time to watch the movie, and cared enough to ask questions. Thanks again.
