Suicide watch at home?

I don't think a hospital would have discharged her so soon. Any practitioner with concerns of self harm would have an attendant watching the patient in the hospital room 24/7. Once she was medically stable the hospital would have most likely petitioned her by the state to be placed in psychiatric care. Anyone with serious mental health concerns (ie suicidal) cannot just leave the hospital by free will once petitioned.

Discharging her and saying 'have your friend/neighbor look after you' is patient endangerment. The psychiatrist that saw Novella in the hospital was reckless.
