U.S. posters, how did this film first come to your attention?

Had never heard of it, until I saw the high rating at dvdsreleasedates.com, and then happened to catch a trailer on a Netflix rental. How did the rest of you first become aware of this film?

reply

Well, I'm a festival junkie, especially Cannes and New York. The film first came to my attention when it premiered to highly positive reviews last year at Cannes, during a year in which critics were 'down' on most of the films of the festival main slate, it seemed--it really came out of nowhere (none of the critics were familiar with Szifron's prior work, which hasn't really traveled out of SA) to be one of the best-reviewed films of the festival. I was very happy to see it in my RedBox the other day.

Sony Classics picked it up. Can't go wrong. Almodovars name helped too.

My sister found it on Comcast On Demand and thought it looked interesting.

We watched and loved it. I want to see again.

Saw the trailer on the previews section of another Sony Classics DVD and it looked good. Loved the film!

It was nominated for an Oscar

Saw it today on Apple TV . It is the movie of the week for only .99 . Great movie I liked it very much!

I think I first caught wind of it when last year's Oscar nominations were announced, as it got a nod for Best Foreign Language Film. Then I almost forgot about it until recently, as it just became available to watch on the Starz premium movie channel (on-demand).

I was pleasantly surprised that this film and another foreign-language Oscar nom from last year, Leviathan, came to Starz, which like the other American movie channels mostly plays very mainstream fare.
