If this was remade in America, who would you cast?

If you were in charge of casting an American remake, who would you suggest?

Obviously Bradley Cooper for Ariel (the groom) in that last short, but what about the other roles?

For Romina, the bride, I would suggest Analeigh Tipton. Or maybe Rachel McAdams if you went

And I'd say Paul Giamatti for Simon, the demolitionist who got fed up with parking tickets.

No one! This movie is so fantastic that it would be a disgrace to do a mediocre American remake of it.

reply

I agree. Look what the US did to Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, or City of Angels compared to Wings of Desire.

reply

Somehow i felt like "wild tales" (specially, the "bombita" segment) was a total ripoff of "Falling down" of Michael Douglas.

reply

The hit-and-run segment wouldn't work in a US setting anyway. I mean, the US justice system isn't perfect, but it's not that corrupt.

Who cares about American remakes...

reply

No one!....For crissake!. They have already messed up with Nine Queens, which came out AWFUL. And I read that there's a remake of "El Secreto de Sus Ojos" (The Secret Of His Eyes -- "look", that is --) coming. There is NO way to clone or depict these characters other than by Argentinians. I'm Paraguayan but we're pretty much into Argentina's culture, particularly myself since I have many relatives there and went to college at the city of La Plata (one hour car ride from Buenos Aires). I am not sure native English speakers actually grasped every simply genius nuance and acting. This film should have won the Oscar for best foreign film. A masterpiece.

reply

I have to agree why bother entertaining thoughts of a U.S. Remake it would most likely pale in comparison
If you feel the need to recast Foreign Films you see please don't go to them anymore

reply

it actually has been made in America, the south one where the good people live

petegatt --

"Why bother" is a good question, and I'll go ahead and answer it -- because I thought it would be interesting to hear people's answers to the question posed in the title of this topic. (Note how I didn't say it should be remade in America, or that I even wanted it to.)

Now my question for you -- why bother with that comment?

reply

Dear God I hope it never gets made in America. Hollywood has a track record of fcking up foreign movies. The bastards should leave the film well alone.

reply

Not a huge fan of doing remakes of foreign movies that are fine on their own already but Bradley Cooper & Alison Brie for the wedding would be perfect.

reply

I dislike Bradly Cooper, I wouldn't cast him.
