TV producers are not pastors or counselors. All they care about is ratings unless things get really extreme. They are not there to care about a person's emotional well-being.

There are a lot of people who would pass psychological tests I the real world, who would fail and freak out once real pressure hits them. I know it's mostly staged, but even that is too much for some people to handle.

I think his thoughts had to do with wanting to bang tawny...he had rape urges. That's what he meant by afraid of hurting her and then maybe hurting himself after from guilt and shame. Just my thoughts
