Seems to be a recurring event

The contestants get hardly any food from hunting or gathering over the course of the weeks, and then within a few days of extraction, they manage to get lucky and stumble upon some large critter to kill.

That boa this past week seemed so sluggish that I wouldn't be shocked if it came out that the production team tossed it in their beer cooler for a bit to slow it down so the people could get energy for their hard upcoming extraction journey.

The whole show is completely staged. Pots have appeared from out of nowhere when the participant(s) needed water the most. The editors/producers made a point to showcase severe cases of bug bites that seemingly disappear later in the episode as if to suggest the bugs suddenly stopped biting (insect repellent, anyone???). Personal cameras magically disappear when crossing bodies of water leading to the pickup point. An endangered turtle magically disappeared from a makeshift holding cell. Statements made by participants have contradicted the editors/producers (i.e. the narrator said Dani was alone for the first 7 days, but in a later episode she said she was only alone 4 days). Dani overhearing the others talk crap about her (and without any of them noticing she was nearby, of course) was a set up. The editors/producers create a storyline out of the footage specifically to cast the participant in a negative light (i.e. Cassie). So that boa probably was planted by the producers.

Pants up, don't loot.

All of the examples are valid. I'm sure the show is edited and we know that. I really wish they would require more of the participants when it comes to being resourceful. They sometimes are next to an ocean and they never try to fish. They seem to get a fire and some water and lay around for the extraction day.
That's so boring to watch. idk maybe it's me judging from home. I do know I would have a huge fire and I'd use rocks to warm up to place under where I was sleeping(I'd do something) they just don't seem to be enthusiastic. half of them never try to make a good shelter they just prop sh!t up on trees and that doesn't work!

Any "kill" that takes place, the animals are provided by the Fish and Game agencies of whatever State the episode is taking place in.
They're never in danger because
A- theres a camera crew with them at all times who aren't going to let them starve. and
B- the producer is a radio call away within walking distance of this sham!
Its all staged and i wouldn't be surprised to find out they don't even spend the whole time roughing it.

I have noticed in more than one episode that on extraction day, when they get in the helicopter sometimes the women throw their hands up in the air &!there is no stubble under their arms...the guys have facial stubble...so I would think after 21 days, something would've grown. Also, after 21 days, in the wild, sleeping outside your hair on your head would be unkempt, not spear to be brushed

Either staged, or the worst "professional survivalists" in the history of mankind.

Well, the weight loss is definitely real. It happens every time, so I don't thing that the producers are giving them any food.

No, it's definitely not real. Just because the producers said the participants lost weight doesn't mean they did.

reply

Huh? I don't need a producer to tell me they lost weight. You can see it happening on your tv as the 21 days go by. Unless you are saying that its CGI or something.

Again, just because the show said so-and-so lost 30 lbs does NOT mean so-and-so actually lost 30 lbs. The person may have only lost 15 lbs and the show is exaggerating. Since every other aspect of the show is fake, why would you believe that portion is legitimate?

reply

I'm just saying, on day one, I may see fat on their bodies. On day 21, I usually see breastbones and ribs. I guess it could be exaggerated with make-up, but I really don't think so. More often than not, the couple is filthy and emaciated at the end of the stay.

....and? Actors often gain/lose weight for a role.
