I was very intrigued by the first and 2nd episode of season one but then it just got to the point of BOREDOM! There were way too many scenes that were simply unnecessary and/or completely irrelevant! For example, when she tries to steal a calf to give milk to a little baby? That's just one of way to many..... I ended up falling asleep! Yes, if your heritage is Scottish or english, I'm sure its a treat but for me, it just falls flat!

You stopped watching before Jamie and Claire got married? Outlander is the story of Jamie and Claire and their life together. The first couple of episodes were really just about introducing the characters.

What a shame.

When you’re served what is, to you, a shit sandwich, you don’t have to eat the whole sandwich to know what it is.

Urogy, you made it further than I did. I stopped in the middle of the second episode of Season 1. It was indeed flat and boring, and I say that as someone with English ancestry so that's not a guarantee. Now, to admit this amongst some fans is inviting all kinds of boos and heckles and cries of "What's wrong with you?" It seems no self-respecting period drama fan can survive without the Outlander experience. My litmus test is am I watching the clock, and with Outlander I was.

Poldark, on the other hand, sets up characters in the first few episodes minus the feelings of tedium that the viewer is on some type of necessary journey to get to the "good part." That's just my opinion though. I'm sure others would disagree.

Thank you! I guess you and I are in the minority...... My cousin Elizabeth told me about outlander and she's CRAZY IN LOVE w/the show! But then again, she's "deeply" obsessed w/Sam H- (Jamie character)...... So that's probably why she loves the show and she even buys the books! She doesn't even like game of thrones, so that makes no sense, in terms of correlation....... I did skip to season 4 when Claire's daughter, Brianna is in her early 20's and she's very pretty and a good actress! However, the episodes jump back in forth in seasons 3 + 4 and that's very confusing.......

Same here, it sounded very interesting(I love fantasy/time-travel fiction) but I gave up after episode 2 because of the boring melodrama.

It lost me by ep. 3. I kept having flashbacks to reading The Magic Treehouse series to my kids. I have Scottish heritage but still this series did not hold my interest for long.
