He must be good if he made an impression in 60 seconds. I can't wait to see him. [

Here is John's reply to DG. He sounds so excited. I bet he will have a lot of fun playing such an interesting character. 

Yes. And I can't wait, too.

I've seen that, yes.

If you haven't watched the 2nd and 3rd Hobbit movies, do. You can see John's acting there. He did a good job in both movies.

reply

Ohh.. I watched all of Middle-Earth movies (one of my favorite movie series). I remember John Bell. He played Luke Evans' son. I was surprised to find Graham MacTavish in the Hobbit series just days ago. I checked him just day before yesterday in The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.

Also, I've watched this TV mini-series about a week ago. North & South, it is. Loved it. Richard Armitage was the lead. I don't know who he was, so I checked him out on IMDB and found out that he played Thorin in Hobbit series. He looked so very different.

I'm a massive Richard Armitage fan. I first saw him in North and South when it first aired on the BBC in 2004. Big fan of the Middle-Earth movies as well. So when RA was cast as Thorin, I was extremely  RA and GMcT became good friends filming The Hobbit btw. They used to play table tennis between scenes in costume. 

reply

I only knew him as Thorin from Hobbit series before watching North & South.

I remember watching the Hobbit 3 trailer in which Thorin was asked "Will you have peace, or war?", and Thorin replies "I will have WAR". He says it like "I will have WOAR". Me and my friends tried to imitate him in his exact same voice and make fun of that dialog, in a positive way, of course. So, when I was watching North & South, I felt like I knew the actor, somewhere, more so because of his voice.. So, when I checked him out on IMDB, I was like "Of course, it must be him"..

EDIT:

The trailer I was talking about: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSzeFFsKEt4

You should watch him as serial killer Francis Dolarhyde in Hannibal. Fantastic performance and totally unrecognisable as Thorin again. 

And also he play in first series "Strike Back"

Richard is gorgeous. And that voice... WOAR 😍

reply

He's in a new series, Berlin Station, this fall. The first two eps are up on Youtube, but not sure if anyone outside the US can view them. There are other ways to watch of course.

He also made a fabulous spy in Spooks, but he is only in the later seasons. Either way all the seasons are worth checking out as there's always a gorgeous lead spy.

GRR...ARGH!

Now see DDA drove me crazy. Four hours looking bewildered.

We really need to figure out how to get RA on Outlander.

reply

I skipped buying the RPJ years. Watched them once and had no desire to watch them/him again.

I'm actually watching those at the moment. Quite enjoying them.

Oh yes, we discussed this on the RA board didn't we broughps and pondered whether he could play Stephen Bonnet, if they made the character a bit older.

reply

I have seasons 1-3 and 7-9. I skipped buying the RPJ years. Watched them once and had no desire to watch them/him again.

reply

Not a massive fan of RPJ myself but I did enjoy those seasons, 4.6 (the one with Jimi Mistry guest-starring) is one of my favorite episodes.

I also really liked Raza Jaffrey on the show, sadly he didn't stay long.

Btw, as we are off-topic anyway, have you seen the Spooks movie with Kit Harrington? I can't bring myself to watch it despite the fact it has Harry Pierce.

GRR...ARGH!

I haven't myself.

reply

Haven't watched it and have no desire to even though I love me some Harry Pierce.

After reading an interview with RPJ and seeing what an arrogant twit he was it completely put me off him.

reply

He is??? I had no idea. I always thought he looks a little vapid. So it's not hard to believe.

Nothing will beat the first 3 seasons anyway. I have a shirt that says "what would Tom Quinn do?" So there's that out 

GRR...ARGH!

reply

mmmmmmmmmMatthewMacfadyanmmmmmmmmmmm

I have saved the last ep of season ten just for that one Tom Quinn scene.

reply

I watched the series which RA was in a few years ago. But recently I have been catching up with the previous ones being repeated on a Sky channel. These are RPJ ones though. Now reading all your comments I'm thinking that I've missed something good with the MM ones. 

reply

Oh you definitely need to watch the MM eps.

reply

I second that! The Tom Quinn years are the very best of the series.

GRR...ARGH!

reply

When the Hobbit movies were first mentioned most of RA's fans were hoping he'd get Bard. We never dreamed he'd get Thorin. Lots happy jumping up and down for that one.

reply

Yes, when I watch Bard's scenes I can't help but imagine RA in that role.
