So Disney has only five shows left....

Three shows ended in a space of weeks with DWAB ending last month and Jessie and IDDI ending today, with A&A on its way out, Disney only has Liv & Maddie, K.C. Undercover, BFW, GMW, and Bunk'd. BFW and Bunk'd are pretty bad out of those. But I guess its still early days for both.

Disney is producing a new show for premiere next year called, "Stuck in the Middle." Filming begins next month.

Disney Channel has ordered new series “Stuck in the Middle,” starring “Jane the Virgin’s” Jenna Ortega, Variety has learned exclusively.

The comedy is slated to debut in spring 2016 with production beginning this November.

The family sitcom marks a move toward Latino-targeted programming for the kids’ cabler. The single-cam series is centered around the Diaz family, and is told from the perspective of the middle child, Harley, played by Ortega, whom Disney Channel is grooming to be their next big star.

Ortega’s character is an engineering whiz who uses her inventions to navigate life as the middle child in a large family of seven kids. Harley’s overlooked status proves to be both a blessing and a curse, as she maneuvers her way through the everyday antics that come with being part of a big family.

The siblings are played by a mish-mosh of familiar Disney faces and newbies to the network. Ronni Hawk will play Rachel; Kayla Maisonet (“Dog With a Blog”) as Georgie; Isaak Presley (“Austin & Ally”) as Grant; Nicolas Bechtel (“General Hospital”) as Danny; Malachi Barton (“Best Friends Whenever”) as Beast; and Ariana Greenblatt (“Liv and Maddie”) as Daphne.

“Stuck in the Middle” is exec produced by Linda Videtti Figueiredo (“Rules of Engagement,” “Last Man Standing”), who will also serve as showrunner. The pilot, which was picked up this past February, was co-penned by Figueiredo and Alison Brown (“Dog With a Blog”), with a story by Brown.

Ortega stars as Young Jane on the CW’s “Jane the Virgin,” which is entering its sophomore season this fall. Her other TV credits include Fox’s short-lived “Rake,” “CSI: NY” and Netflix’s “Richie Rich.” Her film credits include “Iron Man 3” and “Insidious: Chapter 3.”

Ok, but that still leaves a reasonable gap in the programming. A&A should be done by the end of December. That would be four shows gone in the space of a few months with only one new one in the horizon. I haven't read about any other new Disney shows. I guess a lot of repeats are on the horizon.

I believe Austin and Ally's final episode will air in January 2016. They do have a Christmas episode of A&A filmed, which will air in December 2015, but the final episode, which I believe is a two-parter isn't slated to air until early next year.

Ok, so it will probably be done by mid Jan or so. Still not very far away. Still leaves a sizable gap in programming.

Backstage is a new Disney show. It sucks in my opinion.

There is going to be a newer show as well called Paige and Frankie... formerly known as Bizaardvark. It stars the prettiest girl in the world Olivia Rodrigo.

Backstage is a Canadian show that Disney is just airing.

"Though I will ask you to refrain from making speeches atop cafeteria tables in the future."

no wonder it sucks

Disney seems to be treating it like one of their shows--they put it on the Disney Channel website. Maybe it's like Life with Derek and Naturally, Sadie (dang, why can't they get decent imports like that now).

I'm looking for "Bunk'd" to get the can next.
