Would have worked better if...

1. They made them Juniors or Seniors instead of Freshmen. None of them could pass for Freshmen, except maybe Sarah Gilman

2. They had more episodes involving the smoothie shop. Betty was okay, but when they added her annoying nephew it was a mistake

3.Better time slot

4.Not gotten rid of the flashback theme so quickly, but made it so that it wasn't as jolting. More easier to follow. The flashback was a good idea but it got tiresome when they went off on tangents.

4.Not gotten rid of the parents. The parents helped with "conflict". The parents were never seen after the first few episodes. What happened to them?

5.Avoided singing of any kind. Jumped the shark moment. But they were being canceled anyway.

1. Or they could've been sophomores in Season 1 and graduated in Season 3. For me, it's mainly the guys who can't pass for high schoolers.

2. I think the inclusion of Rumble Juice was just enough. I noticed in Season 1 reruns that the basement used to get featured way more than Rumble Juice. I liked Betty, but I feel like she sometimes took away from the gang and they could've had more scenes in the basement. The gang did feel a little more divided in Season 2 thanks to the GLC writers. I agree with you about her nephew.

3. I think GMW should've been at 8 and this at 8:30. But Disney seems to show favoritism to GMW and never switches its timeslot of 8:30. Liv and Maddie is almost as popular for Disney and their timeslot switches every few weeks. HOWEVER, I think the show was doomed from the start and turned off so many people. Disney should've done a better job at promoting the fact that the show has changed for Season 2.

4. Yeah, it's like the Season 2 writers forgot the show is called "I Didn't Do It," lol. I would've liked to see more plots that were related to the title.

5. I actually thought it was kind of funny how the parents were never around. They didn't really give me a good impression in Season 1, so I don't really mind their disappearance.

6. I was upset when I found out this show wasn't going to see a Season 3. However, when I saw the finale and how they formed a band by the end of it, I was glad that they didn't get a Season 3. A band would've jumped the shark and I watched this show because it wasn't another singing show.

The guys could have easily passed for high school Sr's, just not Freshmen. Also Olivia Holt didn't seem very Freshman like either. She looked at least 17 or 18 when the show began. People do complain a lot about them looking older. But we forget before the show ever aired and when tthe cast was created, the actors and actresses were still in their mid teens. . Most people think of Seniors in high school as "mature" but actually they are very much kids still and they do a lot of stupid things. This happens well into college. Then when people turn 25, they usually get a better judgement.

I agree with you on everything else. Except I think the parents should have been there longer at least for conflict. The parents are never there. I saw that with Zeke and Luther too. Also young kids watching the show get the impression that they can get away with stuff.

At least it wasn't as bad as 80s shows with practically 30 year old people portraying high schoolers. So stupid.

Not all teens look really young, its a moot point, but I have seen some teenagers that could pass for 25 or even 30. The reason they use adults to play teens is because of laws about certain situations in movies. And they just felt it was easier to get real adults (over 25) so there would be no legal issues.

It still ends up stupid. In the real life situations you are talking about, yeah and people think they ARE older, which is what they think in movies if it happens, too. Whether it's possible or not for them to look that way, the viewer is going to be annoyed and it thus ruins the movie or show for them. Nothing annoys me more than movies about HS with 20+ year olds playing the characters.

High school kids are hard to cast because of a few things
1.Age restrictions (Under 18 can be a legal liability)
2.Lack of acting experience i.e. they suck

I don't care how old someone is as long as they can act well and "pass" the part. Its a moot point, but not all high schoolers look young and baby faced. Some look older than the cast on IDD.

I was just thinking this morning they must have planned on this show going for at least a few years in the beginning because otherwise it was dumb to make them freshmen when Olivia was about to be 18 already. I originally thought maybe they only planned a couple seasons all along.

reply

Not really. The show was cast as early as 2012, and Olivia Holt herself was only 15.
