Quality of the screenplay and the choice of character names...

A character named "Sergeant Randy" makes unwanted advances on Kristen Stewart's character.

"Sergeant Randy"? Really?

The
Austin Powers films had a character named "Basil Exposition", but they were comedies, and this was a joke shared with the audience, not a joke at the audience's expense.

If this choice of character names is reflective of the general quality of the screenwriting this film is very likely to be a tedious waste of time.

I had the same reaction to the name. I am hoping the name will be changed.

Randy is a nick name for Randolph.

I think you guys are thinking about this waaayyyy to much. lol I had no idea it was slang for that. My guess is not everyone else does either. Anyway, every guy named Randy (and some girls) I'm sure aren't thinking about that kind of nonsense.

The actor posted a pic of his script. His character's name is like Rich Randell or Rick Randell. Or something similar to that. I doubt they'll ever call his Sergeant Randy in the film. It's too informal in most situations.

Knowing that many first-time directors stumble with style over substance, Sattler opted to shoot Camp X-Ray as "a very classic, very elegant film" that let the script and performances do the talking.

"The movie basically has three characters, three primary elements: Kristen, Peyman [Moaadi, of A Separation, as inmate Ali] and the character of this place."

With the many good things I've started to read about the movie, it's no wonder Kristen chose this. And Amy Cole is really a cool name. i know an Amy but no Cole yet

Kristen is a warrior queen
